StepChick ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Health & Fitness Data: With your permission, StepChick reads step count data from Apple Health (HealthKit). This data is used solely to display your step counts, calculate glow points, and evaluate badge/era progress within the app. We do not sell or share your health data with third parties.

Account Information: When you use the app, an anonymous account is created automatically. If you sign in with Apple, we receive only the identifiers Apple provides (no passwords). We store a username (auto-generated or chosen by you) and your weekly glow scores for leaderboard features.

Subscription Data: If you subscribe to StepChick Glow+, payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive subscription status information via RevenueCat but never see your payment details.

Device Information: We may collect basic device information (device model, OS version) for crash reporting and app improvement purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Display your step counts, streaks, and progress within the app
• Calculate and award badges and era progression
• Power the Step Squad leaderboard and friend features
• Manage your subscription status
• Improve app performance and fix bugs

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Supabase: Our backend provider, which stores anonymous user profiles and leaderboard data
• RevenueCat: Subscription management (receives only anonymous user IDs and subscription status)
• Apple: HealthKit data remains on your device and under Apple's privacy framework

4. HealthKit Data

StepChick accesses Apple HealthKit to read step count data. This data is:

• Used only within the app to track your walking progress
• Never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for marketing
• Never stored on external servers — step data is read from HealthKit on-device

5. Data Retention

Your anonymous profile and leaderboard data are retained as long as you use the app. You can request deletion of your data by contacting us at the email below. Local app data (badges, preferences) is stored on your device and can be removed by deleting the app.

6. Children's Privacy

StepChick is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
